Rare photo of Magalie Descamps

Fascinated by colour, drawn to the aesthetics of modernist architecture, looking for symmetry, asymmetry and repetition in lines and shapes

Magalie Descamps

Magalie Descamps was born in Sint-Niklaas and grew up in Schiplaken, a small hamlet in Flemish Brabant. From an early age, she was intrigued by the architecture around her. Curiosity about its structures and designs prompted her to photograph the world in a unique way.

Magalie began by capturing architectural details and structures, but soon her work evolved into a more conceptual and artistic form of photography. Her photographs were not only registrations of buildings, but also expressions of her unique view of the world.

To further develop as a photographer, Magalie began studying art books and visiting photography exhibitions. She was greatly inspired by photographers such as Aglaia Konrad, who helped her find her own voice within the world of photography.

Magalie strives to develop her own vision and style, making her work distinctive and recognizable. Over the next few years, she plans to research the integration of collage into her work
